• This cherry rootstock, originating from the Giessen research facility (Germany), inserts itself into the dwarf range. Its level of vigor is situated between TABEL® Edabriz* and MAXMA DELBARD® 14 Brokeforest*.
  • Rapid fruit set, the GI-SEL-A5* allows for a strong productivity, without influencing the caliber of the fruit which is very homogeneous. The GI-SEL-A5* does not delay fruit ripening date, something which is vital for early varieties.
  • Because it is not robust, pruning must be done at the 3rd or 4th year in order to maintain the renewal of fruit bearing twigs and to control the caliber. It is necessary to control the irrigation and the fertilization in order to not provoke stress leading to blockages.
  • This rootstock behaves well in northern zones and in the good soils of the south-eastern hillsides.  However, in the southern plains, even in good soils, grafted varieties have a tendency to parish after a few years. Pruning does not give the trees more vigor.
  • It suckers little.
